Bensham and Saltwell Community Based Learning Project
 What we do:
The Avenues project works with primarily
young people 13-19 but also work with
young people 11-25. The project works in
two ways first it operates a detached
youth work service which further details
can be found on www.detachedyouthwork.com.
Then secondly when operate a daytime
service which provide information and
advice to young people in several
different ways. The health session which
runs on Tuesday and Thursdays 4-7 where
young people can get information on
drugs and alcohol, emotional health
smoking cessation, and can register for
a C Card. There are two youth session
run from 3- 5:30 Monday to Wednesday
where young people can access a free
internet service and have access to
trained staff. Alternative Education
sessions are run on Fridays which is a
closed group. The young womens group
operates on a Wednesday evening.
Who takes part?
The Avenues Project is open to all.
Different Communities are involved with
the Project such as the local community
and young people, the Muslim Community,
Jewish Community, Visible minority
ethnic community, Bangladeshi
Community,
as well Asylum seekers.
The Project's main aim is to include
through community cohension
and break the barriers of age race and
gender.
